When is a denture needed?
When do you need a denture? This question can only be answered after a check-up by the dentist. This also depends on the health and condition of your teeth. A dentist will never pull healthy teeth. This is ethically not justified. The more unhealthy teeth to pull, the more likely it is that you need a denture.

Which treatments do we provide?
Complete Dentures
A complete denture replaces all teeth. It can only go up or down as long as all teeth are pulled from the same row. A denture is the complete solution for the replacement of your teeth. It will ensure a nice view of your teeth; you can chew and laugh again. A complete denture is not always the only solution in.
Complete Denture Costs
Partial denture
If you didn’t lose all your teeth, then you can choose for a partial denture. This is a plastic prosthesis with a frame of steel. This is a powerful and durable option, but higher in price category. Choosing the right partial dentures starts with the condition of the teeth you have left.
Partial dentures costs
Partial dentures are not reimbursed under the basic insurance. This does not include the costs for tooth extraction and additional dental costs, for example a consultation. However, it is always necessary that we first invite you for an interview. This is to determine what the final treatment will look like and what you will and will not be reimbursed for.
Immediate dentures
In the past you were not immediately fitted with your new dentures. As a result, it could happen that you lived without teeth and a denture for a few months. Nowadays it is possible to be appointed with an immediate prosthesis, at which you will get your first denture straight after pulling the last teeth.
An immediate denture can be complete as well as partial, but it’s always a temporary solution. After pulling the teeth, the jaw first has to recover before a definitive prosthesis can be placed. The recovery time differs per person and can go up to one year.
Click denture (on implants)
In some cases, you cannot get a normal denture. This may have to do with your jaw shape or if your jaw has already shrunk because you already have dentures. In such case, a normal denture will stay loose in your mouth and talking, laughing or eating will be very difficult. The shape of your jaw no longer offers a fit for dentures. In this case, a dentist will recommend a click denture. A benefit of this is that a click denture will stay very firm because of the four (or more) implants, but on the other hand it will still be easy to put in the mouth. Your jaws won’t shrink any further on the place of your implants.
Rebasing and after-care of your dentures
In the first months after the extractions, the jaw will shrink significantly. When you will get your first denture, you will notice that a gap will arise between your jaw and the denture. A loose denture doesn’t of course feel very pleasant. Our specialists will provide your denture with a rebasing. By means of applying a small layer of plastic on the denture, the shape will recover. This treatment shall have to be executed a few times.
Repairs and maintenance
For a repair of your denture you can visit all our practices. Our prosthesis specialist are glad to help you. In most cases, all repairs are done the same day. You can hand in your denture in the morning and pick them up after 4 p.m. We carry out minor repairs while you wait.
Do not repair your denture yourself
If you are going to repair your dentures yourself, this will in almost all cases lead to a worse condition of your dentures. Due to this, costs can rise up. We get started right away
After the first treatment we get started right away. A denture is always custom-made regarding the shape of the jaw. This happens by means of a bite method (impression). The practitioner uses a standard spoon and alginate. Our own dental laboratory makes a plaster model of the impression and a unique spoon made from plastic
The costs of a denture
The financial aspects of a prosthesis can be complicated and confusing. Because the costs of a denture differ per treatment. Variables which have influence on this are for example the amount of teeth that have to be pulled out, the sort of prosthesis or the adjustments which have to be made. That’s why it is quite hard to mention here what the exact costs are for a denture. In most cases it is worth taking out additional dental insurance, because dental treatments are only partially covered within the basic insurance.

In Amsterdam Noord staat de heer Alfredo Diaz graag voor u klaar met al uw vragen over uw prothese. Of dit nu geldt voor het aanmeten, passend maken of andere reparaties aan uw prothese. U kunt ervan uitgaan dat u dezelfde dag nog geholpen wordt. Sommige reparaties voeren wij zelfs uit terwijl u wacht.
Op het Distelplein bevindt zich ons tandtechnisch laboratorium waar wij kleine reparaties en rebasingen kunnen uitvoeren. Bij complexe reparaties zullen wij uw prothese in Zaandam repareren. Dit zal altijd in overleg gebeuren.
In Zaandam hebben wij een vast team van tandtechnische medewerkers. U zult al bij de eerste afspraak kennis maken met prothese technicus de heer R. Schmidt, inmiddels al meer dan 15 jaar werkzaam in onze vertrouwde tandartspraktijk op de Rustenburg in Zaandam. In samenwerking met de tandarts gaat hij bij de eerste afspraak al gelijk voor u aan de slag. Ook voor prothese reparaties en rebasingen staat hij voor u klaar.
Hij wordt bijgestaan door het tandtechnisch laboratorium op de eerste verdieping. Hierdoor kunnen wij snel, efficiënt en vakkundig handelen en zit uw prothese binnen een mum van tijd weer als gegoten.
